Our Team

Our team is made up of 20 veterinary surgeons, 11 veterinary nurses and 7 veterinary assistants, distributed across three care centres. With this multidisciplinary team, we are able to provide excellent veterinary care dedicated to companion animals.

Veterinary Doctors

Miguel Matos

Clinical Director / Veterinary Doctor

Graduated in Veterinary Medicine from UTAD in 1998, he also has a postgraduate degree in Management and Marketing from Universidade Católica (2010) and an MBA Vet from the same university, completed in 2014.

He is responsible for the clinical management of OneVet Ani Mar Veterinary Hospital and the clinical management of OneVet Veterinary Clinic in Fão and OneVet Veterinary Clinic in Esposende. His main areas of interest focus on clinical and hospital management. He currently also serves as director of expansion at the OneVet Group.

Vera Gil

Veterinary Doctor

She holds a degree in Veterinary Medicine (pre-Bologna) from the Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Porto (ICBAS) and also has a postgraduate degree in Soft Tissue Surgery from the University of Lisbon and Lusófona University.

Throughout his career, he has completed several training courses in the fields of surgery and internal medicine. He currently works at the hospital as part of the soft tissue surgery team.

Catarina Pelayo

Veterinary Doctor

She completed his Master's Degree in Veterinary Medicine at the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro in 2017.

She completed several curricular and extracurricular internships at the Trofa Veterinary Hospital, the Trás-os-Montes Veterinary Hospital, the Laranjeiras Veterinary Hospital in Lisbon, the Canis Veterinary Hospital in Girona, and the VRCC in the United Kingdom. She has attended several courses, mainly in the field of Internal Medicine for Companion Animals, and has a postgraduate degree in Internal Medicine. Her main areas of interest are Internal Medicine and Feline Medicine. She has been part of the Ani-Mar Veterinary Hospital team since October 2019.

Francisco Guerreiro

Veterinary Doctor

Birthplace: Matosinhos. Completed an Integrated Master's Degree in Veterinary Medicine at the University of Évora in 2021. Completed a curricular internship at the Veterinary Hospital Centre in Porto and joined the AniMar Veterinary Hospital in 2022.

He completed several curricular and extracurricular internships at the Trofa Veterinary Hospital, the Trás-os-Montes Veterinary Hospital, the Laranjeiras Veterinary Hospital in Lisbon, the Canis Veterinary Hospital in Girona, and the VRCC in the United Kingdom. Rita Correira

Filipa Samúdio

Veterinary Doctor

Born in Póvoa de Varzim, he completed his Integrated Master's Degree in Veterinary Medicine in 2012 at the University of Lisbon, with a thesis dedicated to the assessment of animal pain.

She completed internships at the Porto Veterinary Hospital and the Lisbon University Veterinary Hospital. She also participated in animal sterilisation volunteer programmes in Cape Verde and attended several courses in the areas of ophthalmology and veterinary emergencies. Her main area of interest is general surgery, having completed a postgraduate degree in Small Animal Surgery at the UAB. Since 2021, she has been the clinical director of the Ani Mar Fão Clinic and the Ani Mar Esposende Veterinary Clinic.

Miguel Morais

Veterinary Doctor

Dr Miguel Morais holds a Master's degree in Veterinary Medicine from the Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences (ICBAS) in Porto. He completed his final internship at the Loro Parque Veterinary Clinic in Tenerife, a world-renowned institution in the conservation and medicine of birds and exotic species.

His main areas of interest and expertise are avian medicine, avian endoscopy, and exotic animal medicine. He has extensive experience in avian endoscopy and is a national reference in this field. He is widely recognised for his passion and expertise in working with birds and exotic animals. As an experienced breeder and keeper of these species, he has guided and specialised his professional career to be closer to these animals, offering them specialised knowledge and differentiated care.

Mariana Machado

Veterinary Doctor

A veterinary doctor who graduated from the Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Porto (ICBAS-UP) in 2012, she began her career at the Cat Clinic in Porto.

She later joined the Ani Mar Veterinary Hospital, where she worked as an emergency doctor and was responsible for caring for hospitalised animals during the night, while continuing her training. She specialised in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture and Phytotherapy at ICBAS-UP, furthering her training in this area with Dr. Américo Moreira, clinical director of the Antas Veterinary Clinic (Porto), and Dr. Someia Umarji, clinical director of ZenVet (Lisbon). She also worked at the Loures Veterinary Hospital, part of the São Francisco de Assis Veterinary Group, and later at ZenVet (Lisbon and Seixal), where she practised Integrative Veterinary Medicine. In 2018, she completed training in complementary and regenerative therapies, including ozone therapy, therapeutic laser, gold implants, PRP and stem cells. She also attended training in natural diet therapy, both cooked and raw, at ZenVet, with an update in 2025. Since 2020, she has been working at the Ani Mar Veterinary Hospital, where she provides preventive care, general practice and unconventional medicine, including acupuncture, ozone therapy and diet therapy. She has a special interest in unconventional medicine, integrative veterinary medicine, longevity medicine and holistic patient care.

Raquel Ferreira

Graduating from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD) in 2023, Dr Raquel Ferreira completed her curricular internship at the Berna Veterinary Hospital in Lisbon.

That same year, she began her professional career at the Ani Mar Veterinary Hospital in Póvoa de Varzim, where she is currently one of the heads of the inpatient department. Her areas of interest include soft tissue surgery and internal medicine in companion animals. In her free time, she enjoys physical activity.

Joana Queirós

She completed his Integrated Master's Degree in Veterinary Medicine in 2012 at the Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences (ICBAS), having completed a six-month final curricular internship in the United States of America between the University of Knoxville, Tennessee, and a leading hospital in New Jersey, an experience that shaped his clinical vision and deepened his contact with international best practices.

His areas of interest focus on internal medicine, ultrasound and cardiology, and his postgraduate training reflects these areas: he completed three ultrasound courses at ESAVS (European School for Advanced Veterinary Studies), a postgraduate course in ultrasound at Improve International and a postgraduate course in Cardiology at IFEVET (International Institute for Veterinary Training), in a journey of continuous learning in the service of her patients.

Since 2015, she has been part of the team at Animar Veterinary Hospital, where she has built a solid relationship of trust with guardians and patients over the course of a decade.

Mother of two boys and guardian of two cats, Dr. Joana Queirós knows well what it means to care for a pet. It is this genuine empathy, combined with a proactive attitude and an ever-present smile, that makes each consultation an experience of care and closeness.

Rita Sousa

She completed his Integrated Master's Degree in Veterinary Medicine in 2013 at ICBAS, having completed his final internship at UAB – Autonomous University of Barcelona.

Since then, she has worked in small animal clinics and hospitals in various regions of the country. She has a postgraduate degree in Dermatology and Internal Medicine. His main areas of interest include internal medicine, dermatology, animal behaviour, and imaging.

Daniela Cunha

She completed his Integrated Master's Degree in Veterinary Medicine at the Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Porto.

During her academic career, she completed several extracurricular internships at veterinary clinics and hospitals in the Greater Porto area. She also completed a curricular internship at the Veterinary Hospital of the Catholic University of Valencia, in Spain. Her main areas of interest are dermatology, internal medicine, and oncology, areas in which she intends to continue to deepen her knowledge.

Carla Leite

Veterinary Doctor

She completed his Integrated Master's Degree in Veterinary Medicine at the Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences (ICBAS) of the University of Porto in 2013.

She completed an internship at the Hôpital Vétérinaire de L’Est in Montreal, Canada, and worked as a veterinary surgeon at the Vila Verde Veterinary Centre. She has been part of the OVG Ani-Mar Veterinary Hospital team since 2015, working as a veterinary surgeon at the OVG Animar Fão Veterinary Clinic and the OVG Animar Veterinary Clinic in Esposende. She has a special interest in dermatology and has completed several training courses in this area, including the ESAVS (European School for Advanced Veterinary Studies) dermatology course and a postgraduate degree in veterinary immunoallergology from the Vasco da Gama University School (EUVG) and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Lisbon (FMV-UL). Her main areas of interest include Dermatology, General Medicine and Internal Medicine.

Márcia C. Figueiredo

She completed his Master's Degree in Veterinary Medicine at the Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences, University of Porto, in 2020.

She has been part of the Ani Mar Veterinary Hospital team since 2022. Her main areas of interest are internal medicine and neurology.

Sofia Silva

Veterinary Doctor

She completed his Integrated Master's Degree in Veterinary Medicine in 2024 at the Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences.

She has completed internships at various veterinary centres, including Hospital Veterinari Molins in Barcelona, Centro Hospitalar Veterinário (CHV) and Hospital Veterinário da Póvoa. She joined the team at OneVet Hospital Veterinário AniMar in 2024. Her areas of interest include ophthalmology, internal medicine, and emergency and intensive care.

Ana Pinto

Veterinary Doctor

Master's degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro since 2014, he joined the Animar Group in October 2015.

She trained at ESAVS in Internal Medicine and Surgery, performing duties in these areas at the hospital, namely in the surgery and inpatient teams. He has a particular interest in soft tissue surgery and dentistry.

Manuel Cardoso

Veterinary Doctor

He completed his Integrated Master's Degree in Veterinary Medicine at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Lisbon in 2017. She completed his professional internship and began his career at the Alvalade Veterinary Hospital, later working as a resident veterinary surgeon at the Ajuda Veterinary Clinic.

He later joined the Veterinary Council of Ireland, working at the Avenue Veterinary Hospital in Dundalk, Ireland. In 2025, he joined the team at the Ani Mar Veterinary Hospital, part of the OneVet Group, working at the Cão d’Água Veterinary Clinic and the Fão Veterinary Clinic. His areas of interest include evidence-based medicine, preventive medicine, the integration of animal health into public health, and the legal accountability of those involved in animal health, namely guardians, breeders, owners, and health professionals.

Márcia Figueiredo

She began her professional career in veterinary medicine in January 2001 at the Famalicão Veterinary Clinic, where she began to develop her passion for animal care. In December 2002, she completed her training as a Veterinary Assistant at the Monitor Institute, reinforcing her vocation and consolidating the technical foundations of the profession.

Driven by a desire to develop and deepen her knowledge, she graduated in Veterinary Nursing from the Ponte de Lima Higher Agricultural School in May 2014. During her academic career, she completed several internships at the Ani Mar Veterinary Hospital, where she completed her curricular and professional internship. Her commitment, dedication and competence led to her integration into the clinical staff as a veterinary nurse. Throughout her career, she has continuously invested in her training, participating in various courses, conferences and congresses in the field of Veterinary Nursing. In the 2022/2023 academic year, she completed a postgraduate degree in Medical-Surgical Nursing for Companion Animals at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Lisbon, having completed an internship at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital of the same institution. Her main areas of interest are anaesthesiology and surgery, and she stands out for her rigour, professionalism and dedication to the care and well-being of animals.

Sofia Figueira

Graduated in Veterinary Nursing from the Ponte de Lima Higher Agricultural School in 2017, she has been an integral part of the AniMar team since 2016, having started in the area of stock control and later joining the Veterinary Nursing team.

His main areas of interest are surgery and emergency medicine.

Fernando Cunha

My name is Fernando Cunha and I am a professional in the field of animal health, with eight years of experience as a veterinary nurse, including certification in surgical/anaesthesia nursing and exotic animals.

Throughout my career, I have acquired solid skills in a hospital setting, with a particular interest in hospital maintenance, clinical process optimisation, and teamwork. I am currently completing my Integrated Master’s Degree in Veterinary Medicine, reinforcing my scientific and clinical training. I also have extensive experience in animal behaviour and dog training, and am accustomed to dealing with animals that are difficult to handle or have challenging behaviours, always with a focus on safety and well-being. I value team spirit, continuous learning and overcoming new professional challenges. My personal interests include Brazilian jiu-jitsu and breeding exotic animals. My focus is on caring for animals with professionalism, competence and dedication, always promoting the best quality of life.

With a degree in Veterinary Nursing from the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo, at the Ponte de Lima Higher Agricultural School, she completed her course in 2021, having completed her curricular internship at the Trofa Veterinary Hospital.

She officially joined the AniMar Veterinary Hospital team in 2022. She is responsible for the partnership with the Animal Blood Bank, ensuring effective coordination between the clinical team and the haemotherapy service, promoting quality and safety in transfusion procedures. She contributes daily to the well-being and recovery of patients, showing particular interest and affinity for working with felines.

Ana Margarida Pereira

Veterinary Nurse

With a degree in Veterinary Nursing from the Higher Agricultural School of the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo (ESA-IPVC), she also has a postgraduate degree in Physiotherapy and several qualifications in the field of canine behaviour.

She has professional experience in laboratories, as well as in small animal and exotic animal clinics. Her main areas of interest are nutrition and geriatrics.

Andreia Rocha

Graduated in Veterinary Nursing from the Ponte de Lima Agricultural College in 2011, she completed her curricular internship at the Maia Zoo, where she subsequently worked for two years, performing duties mainly in the area of reptiles and amphibians.

In 2014, she joined the team at Ani-Mar Veterinary Hospital, where she works as a veterinary nurse. Her main areas of interest are hospitalisation, animal welfare, and exotic animal clinics.

Carla Barbosa

Carla Barbosa has a degree in Veterinary Nursing from the Ponte de Lima School of Agriculture.

She is currently part of the team at Ani Mar Veterinary Hospital, where she works mainly in the animal hospitalisation area, ensuring the monitoring and well-being of patients during their recovery period. She stands out for her dedication and availability, always ready to collaborate in any area where the hospital needs her support, contributing daily to the quality of care provided to animals. In her free time, she shares her passion for animals with a family of four cats, five dogs, as well as sheep, chickens and rabbits.

He attended the Veterinary Nursing degree course at the Ponte de Lima Higher Agricultural School (ESA), part of the Viana do Castelo Polytechnic Institute (IPVC).

During her academic career, she completed curricular internships in the field, working with both small and large animals. After this phase, she joined the nursing team at AniMar Veterinary Hospital. Her main areas of interest are intensive care and hospitalisation, surgery, physiotherapy, and rehabilitation. In her free time, she enjoys outdoor activities and spending time with family and friends.

Born in Guimarães, Vera Silva graduated from the Ponte de Lima Higher Agricultural School (ESA-IPVC) in 2022.

In 2025, she completed her postgraduate degree in Medical-Surgical Nursing at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Lisbon (FMV-ULisboa). She began her professional career in 2022 at the AniMar Veterinary Hospital, where she has been consolidating her experience, showing particular interest in the areas of anaesthesia and internal medicine for companion animals.

My name is Kátia Silvério and in 2026 I will have been working as a groomer for 18 years, a profession I pursue with great dedication and passion.

Throughout my career, I have always loved helping my pets transform and feel good, finding great satisfaction in every result I achieve. I have been part of the OneVet team at the Ani-Mar Veterinary Hospital since 2024, continuing to put my experience and affection at the service of animals.

Patrícia Figueiredo

Veterinary Assistant

Receptionist and veterinary assistant, dedicated to providing a warm welcome to owners and animals, ensuring organised, empathetic and efficient service.

Supports the clinical team in their daily routines, contributing to the smooth running of the service and the well-being of patients, always with professionalism and attention to detail.

Cristiana Moreira

Veterinary Assistant

She trained as a veterinary assistant in 2015, motivated by a great passion for animals from an early age.

Throughout her life, she has always been surrounded by animals, nurturing a deep respect and consideration for them, which are a fundamental part of her daily life. She joined the Ani Mar team in April 2019. She started her career at reception and, after a few months, became responsible for bathing and supporting the unit’s hospitalisation. In 2025, she was offered the position of team leader for veterinary assistants.

Mariana Silva

I completed the Veterinary Medicine Assistant course in 2019 at the Talento Training Centre in Vila do Conde, and began my professional career that same year at the Ani Mar Veterinary Hospital, where I completed my curricular and professional internship.

Throughout my career, I have gained experience in various areas that ensure the smooth running of the hospital, such as reception, administrative management, and hygiene care. I provide attentive and professional service, ensuring organisation and efficiency in the daily monitoring of clinical activity. I also specialise in bathing and basic care for dogs and cats, ensuring the well-being, comfort and safety of the animals. I consider myself an organised, empathetic professional focused on service excellence, both in my contact with owners and in the internal management of the hospital.

Gabriela Sant´Anna

I work in customer service, both in person and over the phone, providing friendly and efficient support to customers.

I am responsible for organising the veterinarians’ schedules, ensuring a smooth flow of appointments. I also ensure the organisation and cleanliness of the consulting rooms and reception area.

Kesia Seara

Veterinary Assistant

Receptionist with experience in customer service, schedule management, and administrative support.

I am an organised, proactive professional with a high capacity for learning, easily adapting to new challenges and dynamic environments. I stand out for my efficiency in resolving situations and my ability to keep the reception running smoothly even in demanding contexts.

Diana Moreira

Veterinary Assistant

Multifunctional professional responsible for providing direct support to the veterinary surgeon, customer service and stock management. Responsible for welcoming and guiding customers, booking appointments, answering the telephone and providing administrative support.

In a clinical setting, they assist with procedures, animal care, and cleaning of spaces. They are also responsible for inventory control, placing orders, receiving goods, and organising the warehouse, ensuring the smooth running and efficiency of the service.
