Maria João Pereira

Veterinary Doctor Director

Maria João Silva has a Degree in Veterinary Medicine in 2001 from UTAD, with an internship at the University of Tennessee (USA). She did two veterinary cardiology and echocardiography courses at the Lugo and Madrid Complutense Universities.
Her areas of speciality are cardiology, internal medicine and soft tissue surgery.
Maria has strong ties to Vila Real, having studied and lived here since she was a child. She has embraced the HVTM project since its inception in 2002. She loves travelling, and in her spare time, enjoys being with her family, dogs, and friends!

Paulo Pimenta

Veterinary Doctor

Paulo Pimenta has a degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (UTAD) which he completed in 1998. In 2011, he studied for a Master's degree in Veterinary Medicine at UTAD. He also completed a Postgraduate degree in Veterinary Ophthalmology at the Autonomous University of Barcelona in 2002.
Pimenta has been Clinical Director of Onevet Trás-os-Montes University Hospital since 2002, where he is in charge of the ophthalmology department. He has published several papers in national and international journals
Paulo believes that Veterinary Medicine should be administered to the highest technical, ethical and deontological standards.
He is currently the operational director of the Onevet Group. In his spare time, Paulo enjoys playing sports with his family and children.

Pedro Barbosa

Veterinary Doctor

Pedro Barbosa has an Integrated Master's degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro, which he finished in 2014.
He went on to complete curricular internships at both the Veterinary Clinical Hospital of the Complutense University of Madrid and Onevet Trás-os-Montes Veterinary Hospital. He has been a member of the HVTM team since March 2014 and has a particular interest in Orthopaedics and Surgery.
In his spare time, he enjoys playing sports, reading, being surrounded by nature and spending time with family and friends.

Joana Monteiro

Veterinary Doctor

Joana Monteiro finished her Integrated Master's degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro in 2015.
She then completed a curricular internship that lasted six months at Onevet Veterinary Hospital Trás-os-Montes (2014), subsequently joining the hospital’s medical team. She wrote her Master’s thesis on Surgery, specifically on the ‘Surgical Approach to Intestinal Obstruction.’
Monteiro’s areas of interest include Imaging, Internal Medicine and General Admission. She is particularly passionate about ultrasound imaging and is one of the veterinarians in charge of the hospital’s ultrasound.
Her favourite breed of dog is a French Bulldog and she has one of her own at home. Apart from being a vet, she also enjoys evenings spent with family and friends and going for long walks outdoors with her dogs.

Sara Salgueiro

Veterinary Doctor

Sara Pereira has an Integrated Master's degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro in 2016.
Her dissertation was focused on Internal Medicine, more specifically, ‘Immunomediated haemolytic anaemia in dogs.’
She then completed a curricular internship in 2016 at Onevet Trás-os-Montes University Hospital, subsequently joining the medical team. Her main areas of interest are Dermatology, Endocrinology and Internal Medicine.
In her spare time, she devotes herself to her animals.

Renato Martins

Veterinary Doctor

Renato Martins completed his integrated Master's degree from the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro in 2018.
He did a curricular internship in the Histology and Pathology Laboratory of UTAD. He wrote his Master’s thesis on the immunohistochemical expression of TGF-B receptors in mammary neoplasms of female dogs.
His main areas of interest are Oncology and Clinical Pathology. in his spare time, he devotes himself to music and photography.

Fábio Rebelo

Veterinary Doctor

Fábio Rebelo completed an integrated Master's degree in Veterinary Medicine at the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (UTAD) in 2020.
He did his curricular internship for 4 months at Trás-os-Montes Veterinary Hospital (2018), in Vila Real, and completed 4 months at Centre Hospitalier Vétérinaire Fegis (2019) in Paris, specialising in orthopaedic surgery of companion animals.
His Master’s degree dissertation was focused on companion animal surgery in which he carried out a retrospective study of the incidence of post-surgical complications in the resolution of patellar luxations in small dogs.
He did his professional internship at Onevet Trás-os-Montes Veterinary Hospital, which ended in 2020. He has been working as a veterinary doctor in our veterinary centre ever since.
Apart from his areas of interest, such as orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery and anaesthesiology, in his spare time, he likes to do outdoor activities, with a particular interest in growing fruit. He also has a great fondness for literature, particularly books with universal historical themes.

Joana Monteiro

Joana Magalhães completed her integrated Master's degree in Veterinary Medicine at the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (UTAD) in 2018.
She did her curricular internship at the UTAD Veterinary Hospital in the UTAD Microbiology Laboratory, focusing on Mycology. She has also completed short internships, focusing on the small animal clinical area.
Between November 2018 and May 2020, she worked at HVUTAD. After this, she joined the HVTM team in June 2020.
Her areas of particular interest are Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology and Emergency and Intensive Care.
In her spare time, she enjoys taking naps with her cat, reading and she loves going for walks in the countryside.

Itziar Guerreros

Veterinary Doctor

Itziar Guerreros finished her degree in veterinary medicine in 2016 from the University of Leon and has an Integrated Master's degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (UTAD) in 2019.
Her areas of interest include physiotherapy and rehabilitation. She is currently studying for a postgraduate degree in the area, with graduation expected to be accredited by ISVPS in 2022. She is also passionate about feline medicine and ethology and is the proud owner of three cats: Serafin, El Kaki and Vazie. A nature lover with a particular interest in oenology, she dreams of living on a farm in the Douro Valley. She has been working with the Onevet group since 2021.

Rita Santos

Veterinary Nurse

Rita Santos has a degree in Veterinary Nursing from the Bragança School of Agriculture in 2017.
After this, she completed her curricular internship at the VetCenter Clinic in Bragança. She has been a member of the HVTM team since March 2018.
Her main areas of interest are surgery, admission, animal nutrition and dermatology. In her spare time, she enjoys walking, listening to music, reading and being with her friends and family.

Vanessa Pedrosa

Veterinary Nurse

Rosa Lopes has a Degree in Veterinary Nursing at the Viseu Polytechnical Institute – School of Agriculture, in 2019.
She carried out small internships in clinics and hospitals in 2018 around the city of Viseu, finishing her 6-month curricular internship at Onevet Trás-os-Montes Veterinay Hospital in 2019, where she has been a Veterinary Nurse since December of the same year.
Her main areas of interest are Dermatology, Surgery, General Admission, Emergencies and Intensive Care.
In her free time, she loves to pamper her best friend, her kitten called Roo.
 

Kelly Paulos

Veterinary Nurse

Kelly Paulos completed her Degree in Veterinary Nursing in 2015 from Bragança School of Agriculture.
She then did a curricular internship at Dr Nuno Morais Veterinary Centre and at the HVBV (Onevet Baixo Vouga Veterinary Hospital).
Paulos has been a member of the HVTM team since March 2021.
Her main areas of interest are admission, grooming, nutrition, neonatology and paediatrics.
In her free time, she enjoys going for walks, doing physical exercise, and hanging out with her friends and family.

Sandy Mendes

Veterinary Assistant

Sandy Mendes completed her Degree in Communication Sciences from the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro in 2012.
She then received a Master’s degree in Public Relations and Advertising in 2015 from the same university.
In 2017, she studied a Veterinary Medicine assistant course, by Talento Training Centres. She did her Curricular internship at Onevet Trás-os-Montes University Hospital, subsequently joining the team in July 2017.
Her main areas of interest are surgery, emergency and intensive care and general admission.
In her spare time, she likes to read books and enjoys nature. She runs trails and goes for long walks with her four-legged friend.

Carina Carvalho

Veterinary Assistant

Carina Carvalho joined the HVTM team in 2005, carrying out receptionist, veterinary assistant and support in admissions roles.
In addition to the roles already described, her duties include hospital and financial management and stock control. She has also participated in various training courses on animal nutrition and customer service.
Her free time is split between being a full-time mother, sewing crafts and walking in nature.

Graduated in Veterinary Nursing in 2014 from ESAB (Escola Superior Agrária de Bragança).
Curricular internship in the same year at the HVTM and the Transmonvete Veterinary Clinic. Undertook mini-internships during her degree at various clinics in Bragança.
She has been part of the HVTM medical team since 2016. She has completed various training programmes over the years.
Her areas of interest are Ophthalmology, Neonatology and Paediatrics, Soft Tissue Surgery and General Hospitalisation.
In her spare time she enjoys spending time with friends and family, discovering new places, walking and dancing.
