Summary of the UNAVETS (Spain) and OneVet (Portugal) Training Days in February and March 2025.

Trainings given by OneVet Group in Portugal:

Training in Emergency and Intensive Care – Lisbon and Porto

Taught by Adam Mugford at the Tapada Veterinary Hospital in Lisbon on 24-25 February and 24-25 March) and at the Porto Veterinary Hospital on 26-27 February and 26-27 March, this training focused on triage, shock management, fluid therapy (with differences between species), polytrauma management, intensive monitoring, blood transfusions, respiratory and cardiovascular emergencies, cranioencephalic trauma and endocrine emergencies.

Training in Abdominal Ultrasound – Oporto
Held on 14 and 15 March at the Veterinary Hospital of Porto, led by Juliana Moreira and João Oliveira. The course covered the basics of ultrasound, its practical application (indications, limitations, reports), and ultrasound evaluation of various abdominal organs, with emphasis on practical sessions.

UNAVETS and OneVet groups consider continuing education as an essential pillar of their commitment to animal welfare. Through initiatives aimed at the professional development of their teams, both groups reinforce their commitment to quality veterinary care. Trainings given by UNAVETS Group in Spain:

Internal Medicine Training – Madrid
On the 13th of February, a Training Day in Internal Medicine was held in Madrid at the Veterios Veterinary Reference Hospital, given by Ariadna Rivas. An opportunity to deepen in the latest advances and protocols in this crucial area.

Hip Dysplasia Training – Zaragoza
On the 6th of March the training on Hip Dysplasia took place at the Hotel Zentral AVE in Zaragoza. Those attending the training had the opportunity to update their knowledge about this disease by the hand of a reference as Felipe de Vicente.

Fourth session of the Modular Surgery course – Madrid
Continuous learning in the surgical field was boosted with the fourth session of the Modular Surgery course on 13 March at the Veterios Veterinary Reference Hospital, allowing the teams to advance in the acquisition of new skills and techniques.

Communication workshops by Leti – Castellón, Barcelona and Algeciras
Effective communication, crucial for customer relations, was the focus of the workshop given by coach Miguel Moura on 18 March at the San Bernardo Veterinary Hospital in Castellón, providing key tools for improvement. This focus on communication was reinforced with a second workshop on 19 March at the Garbí Veterinary Hospital in Barcelona, consolidating the importance of clear and empathetic communication. A third workshop was held on 20 March at the Hotel NH Campo de Gibraltar in Algeciras.

TAC Conference – Bilbao
Technology plays a crucial role in veterinary diagnostics. The conference on 27 March on CT scanning given by Pedro Esteve at the Colegio de Veterinarios de Bilbao updated our professionals on the applications and benefits of this diagnostic tool in different pathologies.

Webinars on the New Medicines Legislation – Online
Two important webinars on 21 and 28 March, led by Virginia Rodríguez, Regulatory Director of Zoetis, addressed the ED 666/2023 update on drug legislation.
